WINCHESTER MP Steve Brine is backing his former boss to be the next Prime Minister.
Mr Brine has come out in support of Jeremy Hunt, the former health secretary in whose department Mr Brine worked as a junior minister.
He told the BBC: “We need to turn the page, we need to do so quickly and that process has now started and I’m thrilled that we’ve got Jeremy Hunt in the race again...we need a leader who can win back the voters the conservatives have lost.”
Mr Brine served as PPS to Jeremy Hunt as health secretary from 2015-2016 and as public health minister from 2017-2018. He supported his leadership bid in 2019.
Romsey MP Caroline Nokes and Eastleigh MP Paul Holmes are both reported to be supporting Tom Tugendhat, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
