Here are the latest results from the Winchester and District Table Tennis League.
Division 1
Owslebury A 1 – 9 Five Tees B Nigel Sheppard had a good win over Len Field for the second time this season but that was as good as it got for Owslebury A. The three other sets that were decided in the 5th game all went the way of Five Tees, with Rob Chapman Player of the Match.
Medstead 9 - 1 Winnall Medstead continues to be unbeaten at home! However, the individual scores of this match do not reflect the quality of some of the games, with long rallies and shots from a distance. Tony Amies, who didn’t drop a game, was Player of the Match
Five Tees C 0 - 10 Five Tees A John Reeves came closest to earning the C team a point, taking Paul Newbery to a deciding 5th game, but this result was to be expected, with Dave Fox declared Player of the Match, despite dropping a game to Celia Hooker.
Owslebury A 2 – 8 Kings A Although some of the table tennis was one-sided the banter was evenly shared. Cameron Brealey was Player of the Match and Andy Prince also got a maximum. Barry Dobson scored his first win of the season and Nigel Sheppard won the home team’s other point after a 5-game battle with Steve Brown. This was a good evening of entertainment, enjoyed by all.
Division 2
Kings B 9 – 1 Owslebury B A very sociable evening with the highlight being Pete Budd’s win for Owslebury, who got his smashes going to come back from 0-2 down against Adrian Reeves. Young Ed Robertson didn’t drop a game and well-deserved Player of the Match.
Swanmore A 9 - 1 Kings C Yet another great evening of table tennis, albeit only the 2nd year in the League for the enthusiastic and energetic Kings C players. Swanmore, missing a regular team member, welcomed Adrian Hunt from their B team who pulled out all the stops, winning his three sets, as did the back-to-form Kevin Muldowney who was Player of the Match.
South Wonston 4 - 6 Swanmore B Martyn Davey was involved in two 5-game sets and won both for South Wonston but this didn’t stop them losing the match as they were once again short of a third player. Ian Burgess is on good form this season for Swanmore, winning Player of the Match for the 3rd time.
