Two cricket stars are leaving the Southern Vipers after helping the club win five trophies.

Charlie Dean and Danni Wyatt-Hodge will depart the Utilita Bowl after the 2024 season.

Both players have been instrumental in the Vipers' success from 2020 to 2024.

Off-spinning all-rounder Dean has been with Hampshire since she was 13, while Wyatt-Hodge joined the Vipers in 2017.

Wyatt-Hodge is England Women's all-time leading IT20 run scorer, having surpassed Hampshire head coach Charlotte Edwards in 2024.

Dean made her England debut in September 2021 and became the fastest woman to 50 ODI wickets, achieving this in just 26 matches.

Dean said: "I can’t speak highly enough of how important Hampshire and Southern Vipers have been in my cricketing journey.

"The successes we’ve had as a team have been nothing short of incredible and I’ll look back fondly on my time here."

Wyatt-Hodge, who debuted for England in 2010, has been a key player for the Vipers, scoring 1,756 runs, the second most for the club.

She said: "It’s been an amazing eight years at Utilita Bowl with Southern Vipers. I will miss everyone at Utilita Bowl dearly but I’ll always treasure the success we had as a team."

Wyatt-Hodge has been capped 278 times for England and was part of the team that won the ODI World Cup in 2017.

She is the only England woman to score more than one IT20 century.

Adam Carty, regional director of women’s cricket, said: "To say farewell to two Viper champions at this time of the ever-evolving women’s professional game, reaffirms the fact that more than just clubs are shaping toward a new era.

"Both Charlie and Danni played such a meaningful role in the successes of the region over the past five seasons, and for their admirable efforts, the club and I will be forever grateful.

"We wish them well in their future international and domestic careers."
