This week's results saw Brashfield Reserves and M&T Vets achieve success with two fine wins. Brashfield won 2-1 and both M&T sides thumped their opponents.
Braishfield Reserves 2 Pennington 1
Braishfield Reserves picked up a fine victory away at Pennington. They dominated the first half and took a deserved lead after Jack Solloway made a great run on the left wing and slotted in the bottom right corner, and further pressure resulted in a second goal after Ben Beddoes went on an equally inspired run through from central defence to eventually score with a delicate chip.
The second half saw Pennington respond strongly, and they reduced the deficit from a free kick, but Braishfield defended excellently with goalkeeper Jake Hitchcock in inspired form as they held on for a morale-boosting victory.
Double Success for M&T Vets
It was a very successful day at the office for both Michelmersh & Timsbury veterans’ sides. Playing at Hunts Farm in a League Cup tie, the ‘A’ team had to wait until the 40th minute before breaking the deadlock against underdogs Solent Sports Eastleigh but then proceeded to turn on the style in a resounding 8-1 victory.
Striker Dave Floyd stole the show with four goals, supported by solo efforts from Scott Croucher, Aaron Burgess, Tim Melhuish and James Carnell before the visitors scored a stoppage-time consolation. Not to be outdone, the ‘B’ team also turned on the style in a 6-2 away victory at Durley with striker James Ward also scoring four. Ricky Field and Aaron Shamoon were also on target.
This latest victory elevates Tony Swift’s side up to the dizzy heights of 4th place with 12 points in the ‘C’ Division table.
