Charlotte Edwards and Georgia Adams will remain at the helm of Hampshire Women from 2025.

Adams, 31, captained the Southern Vipers, the regional team based at the Utilita Bowl. She is their leading run-scorer, wicket-taker and most capped player.

The Vipers have won all six of their trophies, with Adams and Edwards playing crucial roles.

In 2023, they lifted The Hundred trophy with the Southern Brave.

Adams said: "It's an honour to be named captain of Hampshire as we all embark on a new era for women's cricket within the county.

"We have a fantastic squad of players with a really good mixture of youth and experience, so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in next summer with the Rose and Crown."

Coach Edwards is one of England's most successful players in history. She made her international debut in 1996 and had a 20-year international career before retiring in 2016.

She held the records as England Women's leading run-scorer in ODIs and IT20s, though the latter has since been surpassed.

After moving to Hampshire in 2017, Edwards became director of Women's Cricket at the club in 2018 and took over as Southern Vipers' head coach in 2020.

Under her guidance, the Vipers have consistently achieved silverware success.

Edwards said: "I'm delighted to remain at Utilita Bowl as it's been such a special place for me since I came here in 2016.

"I'm looking forward to progressing the development of an exciting group of players as we look to continue the successful legacy of women's cricket at Utilita Bowl and within Hampshire."

Adams' impressive performance, scoring 795 runs and taking 30 wickets for the Vipers, as well as a further 136 runs and 16 wickets in the Women's Hundred, earned her the PCA's Domestic Most Valuable Player of the Year title.

Adams was also awarded a contract to play for New South Wales in the Women's National Cricket League in Australia over the winter of 2023-24.

She was picked up by the Adelaide Strikers and went on to lift the trophy, her fourth of the year.

In 2024, Adams and Edwards led the team to a third consecutive Charlotte Edwards Cup Finals Day.

They also helped the team reach the semi-finals of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, continuing the team's record of being the only side to reach the knockout stages of every regional competition.

Adams recently received her maiden England cap when she played two IT20s against Ireland in September 2024.
