Braishfield  1  Lyndhurst   4

Braishfield were well beaten by leaders Lyndhurst in the Southampton League Premier Division last Saturday afternoon.

The visitors started strongly, and after several close efforts, they took a 10th-minute lead. Braishfield struggled to get properly going against their physical opponents and soon fell further behind. To compound matters, their cause was not helped after the double loss of Dan Collins injured and Yousif Alyousif harshly sent off. Lyndhurst continued to attack and added a third goal before the break.

The second half saw a vast improvement from Braishfield, who went agonisingly close on several occasions to reduce the deficit. Eventually, they pulled one back through Ollie Simmonds, but as they continued to press, they became exposed at the back and the visitors scored a late fourth goal to settle the issue and claim the points. Tomorrow Braishfield are home to bottom side QK Southampton Reserves.

Elsewhere in the same competition, there was better news locally when Michelmersh & Timsbury won their first match, a 4-3 thriller against St Francis courtesy of a George West hattrick and a solo effort from Noah Lacey. It was a good day also for their veteran’s side who defeated Solent Sports Eastleigh 2-1 thanks to strikes from Adam Sherman and Dave Floyd.
