On Sunday morning, the Romsey Town Youth under 11 Tigers stepped out into constant drizzle and gusty winds against Colden Common Rovers at Romsey Sports Centre. Freddie started as captain, passing the ball well and leading by example. Tigers' defence of Sam, Alfie and Archie kept possession well and Romsey were camped in the Rovers' half, but the Rovers did remain a threat on the break. A great strike by Christos, following a great assist from Rory, gave the Tigers the lead, but it didn't last long as Colden Common equalised on the break. Romsey continued to dominate possession, with James showing great passing and composure on the ball, and scored again through a wonderful shot from Alfie. The Rovers however kept going and again got back into the game. Tigers' goalkeeper Austin kept things tight at the back with a brilliant clearance, setting up another Tigers attack. Oliver worked hard and made some great forward runs in support of his team mates. Romsey continued to pass the ball and after a brilliant run down the wing and cross into the box from Archie, Rory picked the ball up on the edge of the area and smashed it into the top of the net, giving the Rovers' keeper no chance. The Tigers continued applying pressure and Alfie soon added to his tally with a great run and finish. Colden Common didn't give up and added to their total to make the game close again. Alfie then grabbed his fantastic hat-trick with a great run and strike. With the game coming to a close, the Rovers continued to come forward and scored two goals and missed a penalty to end this thriller of a game. Both teams showed grit and teamwork in abundance in difficult weather conditions. Player of the Match was Alfie for his brilliant hat-trick and all-action performance.

At the same time, the under-11 Pumas took on Littleton Avalanches in similarly challenging wet and muddy conditions. The slippery grass pitch made it difficult for both teams to move the ball effectively, but it was Littleton who adapted quickly, putting Romsey under immediate pressure from the start. A well executed corner by the Avalanches was cleared well by Jayden in the opening minutes. However, Littleton’s early dominance paid off when another strong corner led to the opening goal. The low ball direct to the edge of the box enabled them to slot the ball in the back of the net. Romsey, caught off guard early, struggled to find their rhythm initially but began to respond after going a goal down and battled hard in the middle. A long-range shot by Jenson tested Littleton’s keeper and George’s pressure up top and excellent combinations with Jude and Charlie on the right nearly led to an equaliser from Romsey. Charlie’s well-timed runs on the right were unlucky not to result in a goal and Harvey’s blistering pace on the wing and excellent chip almost caught the Littleton keeper out. The Pumas were piling on the pressure now, but still couldn’t seem to find the net. Bleu was called into action with a fantastic save from a Littleton free kick that seemed destined for the top corner, keeping Romsey in the match. Defenders Tom, Albie, and Jayden worked tirelessly to keep Littleton from breaking through again, showing great resilience under pressure and an array of excellent battling and defensive tackles. Dexter’s quick combinations and his excellent communication with Albie and Jenson helped move the ball forward for Romsey and really threatened the Avalanches' defence. Romsey didn't lose hope entering the fourth quarter, where a quick exchange of passes between Jude, Fraser, and George finally unlocked Littleton’s defence, with Jude firing home a much-needed and well-deserved goal. The momentum shifted completely and the Pumas pushed for more. After several close calls and very near misses, Oscar’s superbly placed shot from outside the box did the job, capping off an excellent individual performance. With the clock ticking down, Romsey continued to dominate. Jude’s inch-perfect through ball found Fraser, who calmly slotted home another goal low and hard into the bottom corner. Despite a slow start, the Pumas showed great character to rally together and produce a fantastic team performance.

Due to the teams being aged 11 and under, FA rules state that the games are considered non-competitive, with no scores published.
