Winchester lost for the first time at their recently redeveloped ground as leaders Gloucester City consolidated their position at the top of the table with a 4-2 victory, they have now won 9 and lost only 1 of their 13 league games. Last season they were relegated after 15 seasons as a step 2 club, 13 of which were spent in the National League North.

Winchester made two changes to the starting line-up from Saturday with Mark Jamison coming in Danny King and Alex Wilkie moving to left back and Luks Chalwell replacing Trebor Caborn from Saturday with former player Keith Emmerson and young player Henry Cooper coming in for players elevated to the starting line-up.

In a fast and furious start to the game, Brandon Smalley came close early on and then in then in the 4th minute he rounded Luke Cairney to give his team the lead,  Winchester however responded with two goals of their own.  Firstly a great strike from Luka Chalwell put them level in the 9th minute and then four minutes later I K Hill, who looked lively, throughout put Winchester ahead with a good finish.

The game continued to be very lively with the pace of the Gloucester forwards always a threat. King Baidoo hit the post for the visitors, while Smalley's follow-up shot was blocked.  At the other end, I K Hill forced a good save from Jared Thompson in the Gloucester goal and the same player also shot narrowly wide.

Joe Hinks had an effort deflected for a corner, but after another of his efforts was saved by Cairney, King Baidoo followed up to score.  The game continued to be lively, but neither goalkeeper had to make a save of notes during the first half which ended all square.

Gloucester continued to apply a lot of pressure, but Winchester were defending well and denying them shots on target. Tommy Wright had a short saved midway through the first half, but soon afterwards Gloucester turn the match on it's head with two goals in quick succession. Firstly, King Baidoo scored following a goalmouth scramble and then Joe Hinks made it 4-2 after an initial shot was saved by Luke Cairney.

After going two goals down Winchester at different times introduced all five substitutes with Luka Chalwell, Jamie Barron, Ollie Griggs, Harry Nevins and Alex Wilkiw going off, but although Tommy Wright had a goal disallowed they were unable to find a way to get back in the game.
