Marlow 2nd XI 1, Winchester 1st XI 8

Winchester travelled to Marlow with a depleted squad but some real young talent. They started the game well and with instant pressure came a wonderful run from player/coach Ben Hibberd who won a penalty flick and subsequently converted to make it 1-0.

Hibberd then became provider and set up Ben Anthony who smashed a reverse into the bottom right corner making it 2-0 at half time. The second half started well again with Winchester putting pressure on Marlow and another penalty corner saw Rory Jack achieve his 5th goal of the season.

River coffee partner Charlie Harrigan went close with a tight chance stopped by a brilliant Marlow defence!

Marlow finally started to exert some pressure but the brilliant defensive partnership of Adam Major and Ed Kirkpatrick kept them largely at bay although Seb Eaton in goal made some excellent close encounter saves.

Winchester then moved the game beyond Marlow by scoring two quick goals. Firstly through another Anthony goal expertly volleyed into the bottom corner. Hibberd then got his second with a neat

1 on 1 finish. Anthony grabbed his hatrick with a close back post finish after a brilliant Will Leyland run.

Hibberd then followed suit with a second penalty flick won by Anthony to complete his own hatrick.

To finish things off Winchester made a wonderful string of passes and young Eddie Bulstrode finished it off to get his first goal of the season.

An 8-1 score was well deserved and a great result for Winchester who go top of the league on goal difference.
