Braishfield were unfortunate to exit the Hampshire FA Trophy after this narrow defeat away at Silchester last Saturday afternoon.

Braishfield made the long trip to the picturesque north Hampshire village looking to bounce back after the previous weeks' disappointing defeat, but made a bad start and fell behind on 11 minutes when the hosts scored from a free kick that sneaked its way through the wall. The Hampshire League hosts looked threatening on the break and scored two quick goals midway through the half, although the third was highly controversial after an obvious foul was somehow missed by the referee. Despite the bleak outlook, Braishfield showed good character and they quickly got back in the game and two well-taken strikes from Jon Palmer and Jacob Phirachi saw them reduce the deficit before the interval. The second half was again very close with little to separate the two teams. Braishfield searched hard for a deserved equaliser but were unable to find a way past a well-organised Silchester defence, and once again their dreams of a county cup run were over for another year.

Meanwhile, back home there was better news, and it was worth the wait as the 2nd Team finally won a league match. Their first for over a year!

Playing against Fordingbridge Turks Reserves, play was very close during a goalless first half, but a brace from Curtis Palmer-Russell put Braishfield in control before Ben Jacobs secured a fine 3-0 victory in what was a fine all-round team performance. Hopefully this long overdue success will spark an overdue upturn in fortunes.

Tomorrow afternoon the 1st Team return to league duty when they host Folland Sports, whilst the Reserves travel to Solent Sports Hamble.
