Braishfield   5   Alderbury   2

Braishfield kept up their winning start in the Southampton League Premier Division, although this victory was not as comfortable as what the scoreline would initially suggest.

In good conditions, both sides made a bright start and created chances. Alderbury went closest when they struck the inside post whilst Braishfield wasted some decent chances. Eventually, they broke the deadlock on 25 minutes when Andy Clark's inswinging corner was forced home by Jamie Nash. This enabled them to take control and soon doubled their lead when Nash scored with a clinical strike.

The second half continued in the same vein. Braishfield continued to attack, and they scored a third when Jacob Phrachai converted a penalty. However, Alderbury were far from finished and soon reduced the deficit when a corner was headed home. The rejuvanted visitors continued to attack and caused numerous problems - despite some fine saves from Adam Meyan-Stevenson they scored again to set-up an anxious finale. Thankfully for Braishfield, they regained their composure and there was much relief when Phrachai scored a fourth before substitute Dan Hansford rounded off the scoring with a late fifth goal.

Meanwhile, in Junior Division 2 the Reserves continued to suffer contrasting fortunes after they lost for the third successive match. Despite an improved performance, defensive blunders proved costly in a 2-6 defeat away at Sherfield English (formerly known as New Forest Athletic).  Jack Harris and Jamie Botto scored the consolation goals.

Tomorrow afternoon both teams are again in league action; the 1st XI are away to BTC Southampton whilst the Reserves host Pennington St Marks.
