SPRINTER Moira West, who runs for WADAC, set new British records and claimed national and world gold medals.

The Whitchurch resident scored a double win at the British Masters Athletic Federation Track and Field Championships in Derby, earning gold for the W75 100m and 200m, setting Britain's fastest time records for that age group.

The 75-year-old athlete then brought home two more gold medals from the World Masters Athletic Championships, held in Gothenburg, Sweden.

West also contributed as the third leg in the W65 4x100 relay team, helping secure a bronze.

A seasoned sportsperson, West transitioned from country to track sprinting after a 2010 Basingstoke and Deane Sports Award.

She competes for multiple athletic clubs and hopes to inspire others to engage in athletics.

Despite her accomplishments, West is eager for more competition.
