Old Tauntonians & Romsey arguably spent more time sitting on the top deck of the Isle of Wight car ferry as they did at the Steephill crease as their Southern Premier League Division 1 visit to Ventnor was all done and dusted in 40 overs.
They were skittled for 71 in 28.1 overs and thrashed by eight wickets, Ventnor winning the game by three o'clock after a 12.30pm start.
OTs almost navigated the initial ten overs without alarm, but then opener Charlie King and Tom Cowley departed within six balls of each other. OTs 25-2.
Joe Vaughan (25), with a six and two fours, raised the score to 37-2 but a double strike by Zeph Wells (3-23) triggered a collapse which saw the OTs innings fold like a pack of cards.
Eight wickets fell for 34 runs, with Dinesh Thimodya (3-11) ripping out the tail, in addition to snaring three superb catches, a low one to dismiss Harry Tulk particularly outstanding.
The Sri Lankan left-hand all-rounder didn't finish there, cracking four sixes and five fours in a rampant 55 not out.
Tulk did at least take two Ventnor wickets, earning OTs a consolation bonus point from their island trek.
