A FANTASTIC 26 athletes from Winchester and District Athletics Club (WADAC) were selected to represent their county schools team at the recent England Schools Athletics Championships.
The event was held in the Commonwealth Games stadium in Birmingham over the weekend of July 12-13. Most of the athletes represented Hampshire but in total some five counties were represented by WADAC athletes and from five separate coaching groups.
Winchester athletes excelled at the event with nine medals being won as follows; Gold – for Lucia Bertacchini (300m Hurdles), Arabella Wilson (400m Hurdles), Silver for Mia Judd (High Jump), Jess Howells (Javelin), Gracie Osman (long Jump), Bronze for Zac Reynolds (400m) Elsie Brindle (300m), Darcey Thorne-Henderson (Discus), Elsie Lucia and Gracie (4x100m).
Following on from their England Schools performances Jess, Lucia and Gracie have been selected to represent England at the upcoming Schools International match which will be held in Wales later this month.
