A Hampshire cricketer has made his loan move to Glamorgan permanent.

Hampshire Cricket confirmed on Monday, July 15 that bowler Mason Crane has signed a permanent contract with Glamorgan. This has come after Crane has spent the current season loan at Sophia Gardens.

Mason Crane said: "I would like to thank everyone at Hampshire for an amazing journey over the years.

"We have created some memories together that will last forever, but now is the time for me to start a new chapter.

"Thank you also to the fans for all the support and I wish everyone associated with the club all the best for the future."

He is a product of Hampshire's player pathway system and started his first-team journey in a T20 match against Surrey in 2015 at the age of 18. He shone from early on, securing two wickets in that debut match, including one of Kumar Sangakarra.

The young player added more sheen to his early career by becoming the youngest Hampshire player to claim five wickets in a single County Championship match, ending with figures of 5-35 against Warwickshire.

His consistent performance caught national attention and he made the cut for the England IT20 side in summer 2017.

He subsequently took part in the 2017/18 Ashes series in Australia, making his test debut.

With a career total of 154 matches across all formats for Hampshire, Crane has 247 wickets under his name.

Notably, he had been a part of victorious Hampshire teams in the 2018 Royal London Cup and the 2022 Vitality Blast.

Having proved his worth while on loan at Glamorgan for the first half of this season, Crane will now be joining the Welsh side on a full-time basis.
