Sam Ashman hit a century and Rory Wooster 80 not out on debut as the Hampshire Academy thrashed Bashley (Rydal) by 134 runs to end the initial tranche of 50-over white ball cricket as the only unbeaten ECB Southern Premier Division side.

The county youngsters posted a formidable 288-4 before bowling Bashley out for 154, spinner Zac Basey taking 4-17, his second four wicket haul.

The Andover-raised Ashman lost three partners before sharing a near century fourth wicket partnership with Wooster, who topped the batting averages at Radley last summer.
Ashman struck a six and 11 fours, bringing up his second SPL hundred - ironically, his first (in Andover's colours) two years ago came against Bashley seconds - running himself out for 101, a suicidal piece of cricket.

His departure (at 168-3) left centre stage to 17-year old Stockbridge starlet Wooster and England Under-18 all-rounder Eddie Jack - and they didn't disappoint!

Handicapped and forced to field with ten men when wicketkeeper Patrick Lewis broke a finger (his replacement behind the stumps Michael Porter then also contrived to get injured), Bashley toiled as Wooster and the left-handed Jack added another 120.

Wooster, who made an unbroken 153 in a recent Hampshire Pathways match at Millfield, hit ten fours in his unbeaten 80, while Jack finished 54 not out.

Jack (3-41) then ripped into Bashley's top order, dismissing openers Jacob Gordon (10) and Will Tripcony (16) before rearranging Porter's stumps for a duck. Ben Walker followed at 49-4.

Jack Stearman (39), the third Bashley player to don the gloves, led what resistance the visitors offered - Saif Achalzai (27) and Josh Digby (21) also made runs - before Basey flicked his spinning fingers and took the last four wickets.
