Newly formed Winchester Running Club (WRC) started their year in exceptional fashion at the Stubbington 10k on Sunday, January 7 with wins across the board.
Having picked up numerous medals at the Hampshire Cross Country Championships the day before, 43 runners made the trek south for the traditional season starter where nearly 2,000 runners took part.
Despite being the newest club in the race, WRC took three of the four team prizes on offer, with the club winning both the female and female veteran team prizes and the male veterans team prize.
There were also individual age category wins for Erin Wilmers and Sarah Gurney in the female over 35 and over 50 categories and Paul Boyd-Leslie in the male over 50 category.
Head coaches Nick Anderson and Andy Parkinson said: “This was a fantastic start for our new club, which has grown to over 150 members in just three months, and today was a testament to the hard work the runners have put in over December.”
