Test Valley councillor Geoff Cooper recently met swimmers, coaches and committee members from Romsey and Totton Swimming Club (RATS).
They met at a training session at Romsey Rapids Leisure Centre to see how a successful bid for funding from Test Valley Council was being put to use.
The club supports swimmers of all ages and abilities through its 'learn to swim' programme. Swimmers take part in local galas, county, regional and national level championships.

Lessons are held at Romsey Rapids on Mondays and Totton Leisure Centre on Fridays with a maximum of eight swimmers per class. Some of the club swimmers volunteer as in-water helpers for the newest learners. Club training sessions take place at Romsey Rapids, Totton Leisure Centre and Hounsdown School swimming pools, with at least one session per day on offer during term time.
