Four members of South Winchester Golf Club, Marc Patch, Paul Neilson, Paul Kille and Mark Neilson, took part in a 24-hour golf challenge at the club from 6pm on Friday June 16 and finishing on Saturday June 17 at 6pm.
They played non-stop for the whole 24 hours to raise funds for the Club’s chosen charity for this year, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Supported by a group of fellow members who drove their clubs and supplies around on buggies and helped to light their way through the night-time round, the four completed six rounds of golf, achieving 31 birdies and one eagle between them, and walked the whole way throughout, covering a distance of some 36 miles.
Their efforts have generated around £8,000 for the charity thanks to the generosity of members and friends. The four were cheered home by members and enjoyed some well-deserved champagne to celebrate their achievement.
