COLDEN Common Tennis Club has officially opened its new clubhouse to members.

The Pavilion on the Recreation Ground, on Main Road, has had a complete refurbishment by the Colden Common Parish Council with a third of the building being redeveloped into a room with kitchen facilities for the sole use of the club.

The clubhouse was officially opened on Sunday, April 2 with the ribbon cut by the Ladies Team Captain, Marie Ray Trotter following a busy mix-in morning when members could turn up and play tennis with others and swap around after a few games.

Members were then able to enjoy the facility with drinks and nibbles.

The clubhouse will be an asset to the club, as there is now a warm shelter to escape to from adverse weather conditions, a space to have a coffee and a chat after a game, a venue for teams to hold match teas after a home game and many other uses.

New members of all abilities are welcome at the Colden Common Tennis Club. Membership starts at £40 per household per annum.
