A HAMPSHIRE man is taking part in the World Rowing Indoor Championships later this month.
Despite the event being held in Toronto, Canada, Mike Marsh is eligible to take part remotely, on his rowing machine in his garage.
Mike, of Cupernham Lane, Romsey, said: “The event will be held in Toronto Canada, however as I've qualified as a top three in age group in the Australian Championships, I'm eligible to compete remotely from my garage in Romsey.
“Everyone competes on the same make/model of rowing machine - Concept2 - which can connect over the internet to allow competing remotely.

“Last year there were competitors from 66 countries, from professional rowers to former NFL and rugby players to keep fit enthusiasts.
“I'll be competing in the 2,000m, 45-49 age group. I may have a chance of a medal having placed sixth last year and fifth the year before in the 40+ age group.
“I'm a dual British/Australian citizen (originally from UK). As I qualified through the Australian Championships, I'll be competing for Australia, but I live in Romsey with my family, after we moved back from Australia last year.”
Mike, 46, will compete in the event on February 25.
