Headmaster and keen cricketer Mr Kevin Foyle hosted a lively and highly entertaining evening enjoyed by nearly 100 gentlemen parents and friends of Norman Court Preparatory School at the Sportsmen's Dinner recently.
Guest speaker Shane Warne kept everyone amused with anecdotes from his Test cricket career and managed to speak to most people during the course of the evening.
Shane Warne recently retired from Australian Test Cricket and was former Wiltshire Minors County captain and is now captain of Hampshire. He is one of the greatest bowlers in history, reviving leg-spin, long considered to be near extinct at Test level. He is the world's leading wicket taker, being the first cricketer to reach 700 Test wickets and one of the best five cricketers of all time.
Shane Warne is no stranger to charity and fundraising events as he receives countless requests from charities every year. Despite his personal and professional commitments, he manages to make time to respond to many of these. Such involvement prompted Shane to set up his own charity, The Shane Warne Foundation, to help bring some quality into the lives of seriously ill and underprivileged children.
Shane's presence at Norman Court thrilled the sports enthusiasts as stories were shared and sports souvenirs were auctioned off in aid of the school's Triple Anniversary Appeal. Almost £10,000 was raised through the event.
