Hampshire Collegiate School, Romsey, pupil, Joe McMenemy (pictured), is the new champion of the Under 14 high jump at the Inter County Tournament held in Bedford recently.
Having qualified for the Hampshire Schools Athletics Championships to represent the county at high jump recently, competing against the best high jumpers in the country, Joe progressed through the preliminary rounds, until, with a personal best of 1m 70cms, he leapt to the top of the list and achieved first place.
Joe is an all-round sportsman whose success will not only please all of his peers at H.C.S., but also at his preparatory school at Stroud in Romsey.
No doubt Joe's proud parents will be joined in their approval by Joe's grandfather, former Saints and England manager, Lawrie McMenemy.
