A ROMSEY athlete has broken a javelin distance throwing record and taken top spot in a South Western Championship event.
John Turner, pictured right, who lives at Woodley Close and represents Team Southampton Athletic Club topped the M35 class in the South Western Veterans' Championships at Exeter with a record throw of 33.20 metres.
John, who had previously helped his club team to victory in their opening Southern League fixture, thanks his coaches Bill and David Callaway at Team Southampton and Romsey School for making facilities available to him.
