Regional Division 4 North Central.
Ampfield II (143-7) beat Holybourne II (142 all out).
Ampfield 2nds won the toss and put Holybourne in to bat. The fielding side soon struck as Mike Stokes picked up the wicket of Jowett.
Holybourne then dug in and began to make a stand against some good Ampfield bowling. Neel Modha took a sharp catch at gully to dismiss the dangerous looking Taylor for 22 off the bowling of Kyle Smith (2-24).
Tom Foreman was welcomed back to the side and showed some form with an impressive 3 for 23. Holybourne held out until the last over before Fry, with the best figures of 4-36, removed the last batsman. Holybourne finished on 142.
Regular opener Neil Garvey joined Modha to start the proceedings but the match was to swing Holybourne's way immediately, when Modha played across the line and was bowled for 2. J. Taylor struck again removing Dave Hunt also for 2 shortly after.
Skipper Betteridge and Garvey then put on a meaty 80-run partnership before the former was caught impressively by Adams for 28. Tom Foreman went out to bat but shortly walked back with his stumps in disarray.
Garvey was joined by young Henderson in the middle. Garvey smashed a huge four on the leg side to bring up his fifty and then began to open up more, but disaster struck as Henderson called for a run and Garvey's runner (Foreman) was just short of the line. Garvey had batted for well over two hours for his 62 off 126 balls.
Henderson and Jayson Smith batted for some time before Henderson was bowled playing back to a shooter. Older brother Kyle joined Jayson now with Ampfield needing 20 to win, but again a run out ended their partnership. Jayson was sent back attempting a single and, even after a desperate dive, was short of his crease.
Barnes, who earlier had bowled 0 for 21 off his seven overs, came to the middle to finish the game. Well ran singles and twos gave Ampfield the win with Kyle Smith hitting the winning run with four balls to spare.
