Braishfield marked their return to Senior football after an eight-year absence with a deserved 2-0 victory over Eastleigh Comrades Reserves.
After winning Junior 2 last season, Braishfield kicked off the new campaign with high hopes and were bolstered by a number of new key signings – pacy striker
Max Beebe from Winchester Castle and the experienced centre back Olly Durman from Burridge.
Braishfield also paraded a new kit following sponsorship from Ace-Liftaway, who presented the new strip prior to kick-off.
The local company were particularly interested in this fixture as they sponsor Comrades as well!
Braishfield started well and the early signs were good with plenty of possession and good movement.
The ever reliable Paul Tanner put in a fine shift at left wing back and caused problems. It was from his fine cut back that the ever impressive Ash Shergold slotted home the first.
The rest of the first half went by without much incident, although Durman had to be subbed on 25 minutes due to injury, replaced by the committed Ali Aikman.
Comrades had a few good spells of pressure but the home defence gave little away.
The second half saw Braishfield really kick on and their confident passing game shone through with good chances created for the hard working Ben Jacobs and Luke Shergold.
After more possession and great football, and at times playing with ease, Braishfield extended their lead when an excellent move from deep in their own half saw Shergold cleverly set up Jacobs who lofted the ball over the keeper.
Braishfield have no fixture this weekend.
