AS one artwork by Hendog gets publicity, another is living on borrowed time.
The new image of a little girl appeared recently on a log on St Catherine's Hill. The doomed one, of Big Issue seller Kev Collick, is set to be demolished along with Friarsgate GP surgery.
Perhaps the city council, which owns the building, will save it and auction it off for charity.
The surgery, unused since 2014, will be demolished to make way for a pop-up park. The open space is described as a 'meanwhile' use as plans are being drawn up for the new scheme known as Silver Hill or the Central Winchester Regeneration. A third name, Saxongate, was the choice of the previous Conservative administration until it lost power in 2019 to the Liberal Democrats.
Another Hendog image, of the homeless teddy bear is on a building on Chesil Street which is also earmarked to be knocked down for the expansion of Chesil Theatre.
