A POLICE car was nearly taken out by a drink driver who had been seen swerving on the M3 last night (Thursday).
Officers stopped a Mercedes on the M3 near Basingstoke at around 6.30pm after it had been spotted veering along the motorway.
Hampshire Roads Policing Unit said on Twitter: “Pulled up alongside it to see if the driver distracted by phone and it nearly took the police car out.
“Car stopped on hard shoulder where driver blew 117 and then 116 in custody.” The legal limit is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.
The driver, Adrian Mediratta, 48, of Southgate Street, Winchester, was arrested.
He has now been charged with drink driving and has been bailed to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on March 23.
