King Charles has left the hospital today (January 29) following a procedure for an enlarged prostate.

The King spent three nights in hospital and was twice visited by the Queen on Sunday, the third and fourth times she has been to see him at the private hospital since they arrived on Friday.

Camilla smiled as she arrived at The London Clinic in central London by car at midday on Sunday, leaving again just over three hours later.

She returned between 6pm and 7pm and was smiling as she left.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The King was this afternoon discharged from hospital following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation.

“His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days.”

The King left from the front entrance of the London Clinic at 3pm today, accompanied by the Queen, and was driven away in a waiting car.

He seemed to be in good spirits as he smiled and waved to those outside the hospital.

The King underwent a corrective procedure for the benign condition and it has been reported he could take up to a month off from public duties as he recuperates.

He left the London Clinic a few hours after the Princess of Wales was discharged from the same hospital, almost two weeks after undergoing abdominal surgery.

Charles spent time at his daughter-in-law’s bedside before his own treatment.

Princess of Wales leaves hospital after planned surgery

The Princess of Wales also left hospital today after undergoing planned abdominal surgery.

She was being treated in the same private hospital as the King – the London Clinic.

Kate will continue her recovery at home.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.

“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.

“The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”
