LEGENDS in rock, folk and jazz along with some upcoming Hampshire talent will be part of a new music season in King’s Somborne.

The village hall is staging a series of concerts called The Somborne Sessions to raise funds to maintain the venue.

Performers are due to include singer and songwriter Richard Digance and Dave Pegg, who has played with Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull.

First up will be Winchester quartet Polly and the Billets Doux with their distinctive blend of folk, jazz, blues and anything else that comes to hand.

The group, who played the Glastonbury and Larmer Tree festivals earlier this year, will perform on Saturday, November 12.

The next show will be on Thursday, December 1 with the visit of Dave Pegg, who will be joined by guitarist P J Wright.

Then on Friday, January 12, multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer, one half of the acoustic roots duo Show of Hands, will take the stage.

Further gigs are being booked for the spring and more details will become available soon.

The organisers hope that it will include Richard Digance along with New York band, The Wyios.

Doors open for all the shows at 7.30pm with an 8pm start and there will be a licensed bar.

Tickets for the shows cost £10 per person, with 100 tickets available per show, and all profits go to the village hall’s upkeep.
