AN Alresford postal worker who allegedly stole and destroyed mail has been suspended.

The Royal Mail confirmed the employee, who worked in the Alresford sorting office, had been suspended for intentionally delaying mail.

A spokesperson for the company said they would continue to take a “zero tolerance approach to any dishonesty.”

The Royal Mail is still deciding whether to prosecute the employee.

Recently, it suspended a Winchester postman when mail was found dumped in St Cross.
