A Winchester hotel is offering a discount to special couples in honour of the royal wedding.

All couples called Kate and William who hold their wedding reception at the Winchester Holiday Inn will be given room hire free of charge, saving up to £750.

The four-star hotel is also offering a 50% discount on rooms if the groom alone is called William.

Siobhan Thomasson, general manager of the hotel, said: “It’s fantastic news that Prince William has announced his engagement. Because of this we’ve decided to offer to anyone called William and Kate who hold their wedding reception at Holiday Inn Winchester this amazing offer.

“We’d be more than happy to accommodate the Prince and his new wife but I imagine the trip down the M3 from London after the wedding would be perhaps a little too far.

“We also expect it to be a record year for weddings as everyone will want to follow Prince William’s lead.”

But to be eligible for the discount the couple must be getting married in 2011 and proof of names will be required.
