FOR those who are eager to return to work, a community café is being launched in Winchester.
It will be held at the Carroll Youth Centre in Stanmore on Thursdays from 12.15 to 2.15pm.
The scheme is geared towards parents looking for jobs, who can bring along their children to the centre.
Toys and games will be available while the grown ups can discuss their prospects with a job skills tutor. They will offer advice on training, how to smarten up CVs and tips on application forms.
Free internet access and newspapers will be available at the centre in Somers Close for job hunting.
The scheme is being set up as Winchester grapples with its highest unemployment figures for more than a decade.
While below the national average, the number of Wintonians out of work has doubled since 2008 and estates such as Stanmore have been amongst the hardest hit.
