FUNDRAISERS in the district have pulled in nearly £9,000 for earthquake victims in Haiti.
Winchester Rotary Club raised more than £7,000 following collections in the city’s high street and at Tesco Extra, Winnall.
Meanwhile their counterparts in Alresford collected £1,780 from people passing through the town centre on January 16.
President of the Rotary Club of Alresford, Steve Gapper, said: "Even though it rained most of the morning, people were being very generous.
Alresford Rotary have already donated £1,000 towards two ShelterBoxes for Haiti to provide tools, water filters and shelter for people made homeless in the earthquake.
It’s great that local people’s generosity means that we can donate at least three more. The money donated will make a real difference to people's lives."
