A BOOK delving into the weird, mysterious and occasionally gory happenings of a Winchester landmark has gone on sale.
It is to accompany popular tours at The Hospital of St Cross, which are running every fortnight in January and February.
The book, Ghastly Goings On at St Cross, covers the dark side of the 12th century building - England's oldest almshouse.
Claire Dixon, who runs the tours, said: "We have run six of the tours now and people began to ask to buy the book - so I had to write one!"
The book is available from the hospital's shop, priced £2.50. Tours will take place on January 28 and February 14 and 28 at 7pm.
