CONCERNS have been raised about the perceived lack of programming in the New Year at Tower Arts Centre.
City councillor Kelsie Learney said its website was only advertising one show, Limehouse Lizzy on February 19, a after a busy autumn schedule.
Members of the public who received promotional literature in the past no longer do so, Cllr Learney, the Liberal Democrat group leader, told the full Council.
Activity at the Tower became controversial after funding for it was diverted to the Discovery Centre in Winchester city centre.
The county council transferred its running to Kings' School last year and the centre has managed to put on a well-received programme of music as well as being a base for groups such as the Blue Apple Theatre Company and arts workshops.
Pat Stallard, portfolio holder for heritage, culture and sport, said there had been an issue over the website which was being addressed.
Cllr Stallard said the centre seemed to be doing well. "Officers are in regular dialogue with the manager of Tower Arts, and have been pleased to note the progress being made. The manager is a confident programmer and is well supported by Kings' School.
"He routinely liaises with other venues and both local authorities to ensure that the centre continues to offer a vibrant and attractive programme. Ticket buyers include former Tower regulars as well as new audiences.
"The performance strand has been developed in new directions, and recent concerts have included celebrities of the calibre of Beverley Craven and Midge Ure."
Ben Ward, the Tower manager, was unavailable for comment.
