WINCHESTER City Council is poised to sign a groundbreaking alliance with another council to collect rubbish.
It is linking up with East Hampshire District Council to operate the bin collection service on a seven-year contract.
Winchester council leader George Beckett said the agreement would save both authorities "significant" sums of money.
The Winchester cabinet agreed the link in confidential session at its meeting on Wednesday, January 13.
