THE largest housing association in Winchester has received a good report from inspectors.
A2 Dominion runs 33,000 homes across the South East including 1,450 in Winchester.
Complaints from its tenants in the district rose last year and included gripes about broken boilers and rat infestations.
However, the Audit Commission's latest report into A2 Dominion says the group has "more strengths than weaknesses".
The report was carried out at short notice with the association only having five days to prepare.
Inspectors praised the way that tenants were asked about the services they receive. A2 Dominion was also saluted for carrying out plenty of gas safety checks and offering good value for money.
However, the report also said repairs were taking too long.
Inspectors have urged A2 Dominion to speed them up and ensure that repair work is carried out to a sufficient standard.
It has also called for better handling of complaints and for more details to be collected about tenants and their needs.
Under the inspection rules, A2 Dominion, which employs 850 people across the region, has two months to draw up improvement plans.
