Winchester is slowly getting back to normal today as rising temperatures begins to thaw the snow and ice.
All schools across central Hampshire have now reopened after enduring more than a week of disruption.
Refuse crews are today beginning the task of catching up with collections postponed because of the weather and will work this Saturday to make up for lost time. Winchester City Council is advising residents to leave their bins out until they are emptied.
Despite ice thawing from some city centre streets the Met Office has issued a warning for today and Friday. It says there remains a danger of ice on untreated roads across Hampshire.
Hampshire County Council says some day centres for the elderly and those with learning disabilities will remain closed today. Facilities at Bishopstoke and Kings Worthy will stay shut but The Grove in Winchester and Hexagon in Chandler’s Ford will open.
