DISRUPTION returned to Winchester again this morning as freezing temperatures continue to bite in the city.
The sub-zero conditions overnight have meant the blanket of snow over the city has remained and turned to ice in some places.
It has led the closure of Winchester Bus Station and scores of schools in the district have shut for a second day.
Winchester City Council said refuse trucks have been sent out this morning but that collections maybe missed due to inaccessible rural and side roads. The authority is advising residents to leave their rubbish out until it has been emptied.
River Park Leisure Centre remains open and has been designated a rest centre for anyone unable to get home in the snow.
Meanwhile the Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for widespread icy roads in Hampshire this morning. It also says there is a moderate risk of heavy snow in Hampshire on Sunday (January 10).
