THE end of the decade is also proving the end of an era at the Pinder Centre, with the departure of its boss.
Kim Boog-Carmichael is standing aside after 20 years at the rehabilitation and hydrotherapy charity, based at Avington near Winchester.
She started her tenure as a nurse, working her way up to the top job five years ago.
She said: "I have loved every minute of my time here especially having the privilege to get to know so many wonderful people.
"The team of staff work very hard to offer support and professional care and without them the centre could not exist. I wish to take this opportunity to say thank you to them all.
"Hopefully my next job will allow a little more time to enjoy my family, dogs and friends, so I shall be calling in for coffee, cake and a catch-up."
She also offered her best wishes to the new manager, Fiona Pirie, who has previously worked in universities, the health sector and civil service.
She said: "The Pinder Centre is a very special place indeed and I felt this as soon as I arrived on my first visit."
She added: "My father was severely disabled after military service in World War II, and I often think of how he would have enjoyed and benefited from all that The Pinder Centre offers."
The charity currently has 23 staff, and is on the lookout for extra volunteers and donations. Call 01962 779498 if you think you can help.
