A BUDDING director will fly out to Hollywood later this month to pitch his movie to senior film executives.
Lorne Guy, a part-time media lecturer at the University of Winchester, won Sony's Make a Movie competition with his three-minute trailer for Breaking Bollywood.
"To win the Sony competition is a real boost to my profile," he said. "Sony Pictures is one of the largest film production companies and they have a far-reaching influence.
"It's a pitch opportunity at the moment, but if producers at Sony Pictures USA like my idea, it could lead be a step closer to getting my film made."
Breaking Bollywood is about two English actors who land roles in a Bollywood film and fly to India to fulfil their dream, but it does not quite go to plan.
"We had to create something for no money so of course a trip to India wasn't on the cards," he said. "However, in the end we did manage to produce a comedy trailer which had enough in it to entice the top guys at Sony to want to know more.
"As the Indian film industry grows in world stature, more and more collaborations are being made - let us hope they like the idea."
