WINCHESTER planners have backed a scheme for 14 houses in Bishop’s Waltham.
Councillors on the planning committee on thursday unanimously supported the plan for a grassy horse paddock between Green Lane and Hoe Road.
There were six objections from local people, citing the loss of green space, the impact on the natural environment and congestion on Hoe Road.
The town’s parish council did not oppose the proposal by Colonel Smart but expressed concern over the safety of access. There were two letters of support.
The committee gave outline approval agreeing with their officers that the site was within the settlement boundary where such development is acceptable.
Forty per cent of the homes will be affordable. A sum of £89,000 will go towards highway improvements and towards provision of open space.
