CYCLING enthusiasts in Bishop's Waltham are celebrating after the creation of a new bike-friendly map.
A pamphlet is now available that charts a route from Botley train station into the market town, and onwards through the South Downs National Park.
The map, produced by the South Downs National Park Authority, aims to promote cycling in the area, enabling visitors and locals alike to discover Bishop's Waltham and the surrounding downs.
The route takes in several pubs and landmarks, such as Bishop's Palace, and promises “excellent views of the Meon Valley”.
But at 20 miles, it is not for the faint of heart and takes in hills and muddy tracks.
Parish Cllr Robert Shields has been instrumental in getting the map published.
“We wanted to promote cycling in Bishop's Waltham in the forward plan. It's inside the South Downs National Park so we have managed to get them to pay for it!”
Cllr Shields said he hopes to have an unofficial launch at the Party in the Park in Eastleigh on Friday (May 17).
