ALRESFORD Town Council has delayed a vote on whether to support plans for new rugby pitches.
The town rugby club wants to level off sloping grazing land at Arlebury Park into two pitches in a £167,000 scheme.
It was discussed at a town council meeting last Thursday but councillors felt they did not have enough information to make a decision.
Speaking after the meeting, council chairman Lisa Griffiths said: “This is moving forward but we have nothing firm to look at and until we have something in writing before us we cannot make a decision.”
But she added clarification was likely to emerge soon and that the vote had been scheduled for the council’s July meeting.
It followed a public meeting last Tuesday that heard most of the town council supported the scheme.
There has ben concern about aspects of the lease. Sport England normally only give grants for pitches where there is at least a 25-year lease. Part of the Arlebury Park site is leased from landowner Rodney Morgan-Giles for 15 years
