SIR — Page five of last week’s Chronicle featured a councillor criticising the Tower Arts Centre for its lack of a programming, while, on page 11 of the 7 Days supplement, there contained a full-page advertisement for the comprehensive programme that is in fact in place.
Wouldn’t it have been better for the councillor to make an enquiry before leaping in in this way?
If she had, she would have realised that the Tower’s director has been off for a month on paternity leave, while the venue itself has been unusable for three weeks because of a new heating system being installed.
Instead of being criticised, the Tower should have been praised for putting such a good programme in place, despite the difficult circumstances.
Oliver Gray, Finches Lane, Twyford.
