ROMSEY’S MP is spearheading a campaign to improve services for fracture victims.
Sandra Gidley, who has the support of the National Osteoporosis Society, has written to local healthcare providers urging them to set up comprehensive falls and fracture services. The MP claims this could prevent unnecessary breaks and save the NHS money.
Mrs Gidley said “Fracture rates here in Hampshire and across the UK could be halved by the early identification of osteoporosis.”
The Liberal Democrat health spokesperson has called for a Fracture Liaison Service in every area. “This isn’t an empty call to action; it is proven that these measures work. They can improve quality of life, restore independence and help to save thousands of lives each year,” said Mrs Gidley.
