WASTE collections were suspended in the Test Valley yesterday morning because it was too dangerous for trucks to operate on snow and ice covered roads. A borough council spokeswoman said the situation would be reviewed in the afternoon. "We had to take all lorries off the road because of the bad weather. People should leave their bins out as normal and crews will get round to collect them as soon as possible. There is just about a solid covering of snow across the whole Test Valley," she said.
*WILTSHIRE Council suspended all its waste collection and recycling services yesterday because of the wintry weather.
Homeowners across the county are being advised to leave household rubbish out for collection until normal services are resumed when the weather improves. "We will do everything within our power to minimise any inconvenience," said a council spokesperson.
However, any garden waste and recycling materials left out should be taken in if not collected by 4pm January 7 and put out again on the next scheduled collection date.
