King’s Somborne Summer Fair is on Sunday (June 7) in the Old Vicarage Garden not Saturday as reported in this week's edition.
Hampshire’s newest morris dancing side make their debut at the event.
Somborne Morris have been formed by accountant, Doug Stammers, who has been a keen morris dancer since his university days.
After an appeal for potential dancers was published in the Romsey Advertiser in March, he recruited six brave volunteers. They have joined Doug and his wife, Carolyn and daughter Rachael, 19.
Somborne Morris will perform two Cotswold dances - Shooters, involving clashing sticks, and the hand-clapping Shepherd’s Hey!
They’ll also be inviting members of the audience to take part in the Bear Dance.
The summer fair will also feature children’s maypole dancing, children’s games and a painting and costume competition with the theme “Strictly Come Dancing”. The event begins at 2pm and Somborne Morris are due to make their appearance at around 2.45pm.
