SIR — Last year the council erected wire fencing at the Durngate entrance to Winnall Moors to prevent public access. Later, a notice board explained that work at the site was being delayed by unexpectedly heavy rains.
Summer is here, and still thousands of residents in the Winnall area, many hoping to enjoy one of the glories of Winchester, would have to traipse about a quarter-of-a-mile to the west before they could gain access at the rear of the leisure centre.
This would be too much for some elderly people.
Memo to the council: please get a move on!
